Billboards converted to shelters for stray dogs
Back in 2022, an innovative initiative emerged in Thailand wherein a group of people repurposed old billboards to create convertible shelters for stray dogs. These shelters, made from durable and weather-resistant materials, provided the dogs with much-needed protection from the harsh elements, particularly the intense heat. By utilizing old billboards, which are otherwise a waste management issue, this project addresses two problems simultaneously: providing shelter for stray dogs and recycling waste materials.
At the time, the project received widespread media coverage and was lauded for its creativity and social impact. However, for some reason, we just seem to have totally forgotten about this concept; I haven't heard of it being implemented anywhere else. It could be a good project for people to undertake in their own cities. The heat often gets crazy, there aren't that many trees nowadays and so the poor dogs have nowhere to hide in the heat. Such shelters would also greatly raise awareness about the state of these dogs.
Saw this article and wondered why the concept never scaled.
