Frontend Engineer @ Oasis of Ideas

We're looking for an amazing frontend engineer to help improve the user experience on this website and build new client-facing features. The ideal candidate is skilled at both software development and UI/UX design.

Example Responsibilities

• Ideate, design, and implement new features
• Implement a design system for the website
• Improve performance, responsiveness, and accessibility
• Identify and correct UX issues and errors using PostHog session replays and Sentry error notifications.
• Design non-intrusive animations to create delightful user experiences

Required Qualifications

• 1500+ hours of experience writing NextJS, React, and Typescript code (cumulatively).
• Courses, Certifications, or Formal Work Experience in UI/UX design.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and why they exist.
• Available to start full-time around January 20th, 2025.
• Based in India or Nepal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have built something before that has had >20 active users.
• Deep knowledge of Performance, Responsive Web Design, Accessibility, Server-Side Rendering, and/or SEO.
• Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, ShadcnUI, NextAuth.js, Redux, PostHog, Sentry, Cookies, DOM manipulation, Session Handling, Cookies, Cache Handling, and Security best practices.
• Significant prior experience using Figma (or similar software).
• Experience with animations, interaction design, and understanding of user psychology.
• Some prior experience with full-stack web development (REST APIs, NodeJS, MongoDB, deployment etc.).

We're an early-stage organisation with about 400 users and some signs of Product-Market Fit. On the one hand, this means that your work here is guaranteed to have a strong impact on the product and, by extension, on the world. On the other hand, this also means that we don't yet have a "team". Most of your work will be independent and overseen directly by the founder. Product Overview

Oasis of Ideas is an online platform for sharing and discovering ideas for products, businesses, games, and other such projects. It aims to bridge the gap between people who have good ideas but don't pursue them and people who are looking for ideas to work on, and thereby help a lot of valuable new projects get executed.
